About

This is a school project I am doing for Humanities 8 Incentive; a collaboration/scrapbook of a few articles from the newspapers The Vancouver Sun and The Province each week. I have included the article itself, as well as a summary I have written of each one. Although this is mainly for school, anyone can come here and read the articles...Who knows, maybe next year I will continue on putting more articles on this site and it will eventually become a huge database of news articles!

Who I Am
Just thought you might want to know just a little about me...not too much, mind you. I am currently a Gr. 8 student at J. N. Burnett Secondary School (it's awesome) in Richmond, British Columbia and my name is Linda. One of my passions is reading; once I pick up a book I never put it down until it's done! I also love to write and recently discovered the magic of HTML (Hyper-Text Mark-Up Language) as well as Photoshop. I taught myself how to use both of them with a little bit of help from one of my brothers. And so, when my Humanities teacher announced we were to make a newspaper scrapbook...this is what I immediately thought of!

Note:
At the beginning I attempted scanning the actual articles, but after the first one I pretty much gave up. It is impossible to scan the articles (which are often larger than my scanner) in addition to putting them on the site big enough to read but not so big that they take up an area larger than the computer screen (another problem is that some people have smaller screens than others). So, I chose the articles from the newspapers we were given in class, and found the articles again on the internet, placing them on my site. Then, I scanned just the pictures and put them on as well.
